Terms of Use

1. Who we are

Remedia (remedia.social, the Remedia browser extension and related apps) is run by Mist Art, obrt za programiranje, Montiron 70, 52204 Šišan, Croatia ("we", "us"). Contact: kontakt@remedia.social. By creating an account or using Remedia you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Remedia.

2. What Remedia is

Remedia is a platform for reading news with context and for checking claims. It offers:

  • public content: articles, fact-checks, claim reviews, brief reports and editorial marks;
  • a browser extension that adds context to news pages;
  • tools for signed-in users: writing, research folders, boards, page monitoring, public data about companies and public bodies, and AI-assisted tools such as summaries and reply drafts.

Some tools are free, some are part of paid plans, and some are in beta. Beta tools may change, be limited to approved accounts, or be withdrawn.

3. Accounts

  1. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  2. One person, one account. Use your real identity or a clearly identifiable organisation; do not impersonate anyone.
  3. You are responsible for everything done with your account. Keep your login secure and tell us if it is misused.
  4. An organisation account may add members. The organisation is responsible for its members' use of Remedia.
  5. Having an account is not a right. We may refuse to open an account, or limit what an account can do, as described in section 5.

4. Acceptable use

Remedia exists to help people find and share accurate information. You must not use it to:

  1. publish or spread content that is false or misleading on matters of health, science, elections or public safety, including content that contradicts established medical or scientific consensus without credible evidence;
  2. harass, threaten, insult, dox or intimidate anyone, including our team, fact-checkers, journalists and other users;
  3. publish hateful content, or content that is illegal under Croatian or EU law;
  4. impersonate others, run fake or coordinated accounts, or use bots;
  5. abuse reporting, dislike, flagging or complaint tools, for example by mass reporting, filing reports in bad faith, or trying to get content removed because you disagree with it;
  6. use our tools to attack, monitor or profile a private individual;
  7. scrape, copy or resell Remedia content or data, or overload the service;
  8. probe, test or bypass our security, limits, or moderation, or look for loopholes in these terms to cause harm;
  9. use AI tools to produce spam, deceptive content, or content you present as written by a human expert when it is not.

We decide whether something breaks these rules. A list like this cannot cover every case: behaviour that clearly goes against the purpose of Remedia is treated the same way.

5. Moderation, suspension and removal

We may, at any time and at our own discretion:

  • remove, hide or limit the visibility of any content;
  • remove access to any tool, including beta tools;
  • suspend or close any account, or refuse a new one;
  • block a person from re-registering under another account.

We do this when we believe someone breaks section 4, harms other users or Remedia's purpose, creates legal risk, or when it is needed to protect the service.

How we tell you. When we remove your content or restrict your account, we send you a short statement naming the rule applied and what was restricted, as required by EU law. We are not obliged to discuss the decision further, to give details that would help someone get around our moderation, or to keep the content available while you object.

Objections. You may object once, in writing, to kontakt@remedia.social within 14 days. We review it and give a short final answer. Repeated or abusive objections are not answered. This does not limit your right to go to court or to an out-of-court dispute settlement body.

Paid accounts. If we close a paid account because it broke these terms, no refund is due. If we close it for any other reason, we refund the unused part of the paid period.

Reports from you. You can report content or accounts that break these rules. We decide what to do with reports; filing one does not give you a right to a particular outcome.

6. Content you add

  1. You keep the rights to what you write, save or upload.
  2. Content you publish on Remedia (articles, statuses, comments, public profiles) is public. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display, translate, format and share it on Remedia and its channels, for as long as it is published and for archived copies of fact-checks that cite it.
  3. Content you keep private (folders, passages, notes, boards, monitors, persons) is visible only to you and to people you share it with. We use it only to provide the service, and we do not publish it.
  4. You are responsible for what you add: you must have the right to add it, and it must not break section 4 or anyone's rights.
  5. When you share a folder, its members can see and, depending on their role, edit what is in it. Removing someone from a folder removes their access, not copies they already made.

7. AI tools

  1. Some tools (summaries, reply drafts, translations, suggestions) use AI. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date.
  2. AI output is a draft for you to check. Nothing is posted automatically. When you post, publish or send it, it is your content and your responsibility.
  3. Do not present AI output as your own expert verification without checking it.
  4. Text you send to an AI tool is processed by our AI providers as described in the Privacy Policy.
  5. If you use your own API key (BYOK), your use of that provider is also governed by its terms, and you pay its costs.
  6. AI tools have usage limits that depend on your plan. We may change limits to keep the service sustainable.

8. Research tools and public data

Public data. Information about companies and public bodies comes from official public sources (such as public procurement, the court register, budget payments and media registers). We show each value with its source and the date we retrieved it. Sources can be wrong, late or incomplete, and we may not have the latest version. Always check important facts at the original source before you publish.

Warnings are questions, not conclusions. Automatic findings (for example, many contracts just below a threshold) point to something worth checking. They are not evidence of wrongdoing, and you must not present them as such.

Persons. Persons you add by hand are your own research notes. You are responsible for adding only information you may lawfully process, and for not publishing personal data without a lawful basis.

Page monitoring. You may watch only pages you are allowed to access without logging in. We check them from our servers at the interval your plan allows, respect robots.txt, and do not guarantee that every change is detected or detected on time. Snapshots and screenshots are kept as a record of what was available; they are not an official certified copy.

Limits. Each plan has limits (for example the number of monitored pages or how often they are checked). We may stop monitoring a page that blocks us, causes errors or breaks section 4.

9. Fact-checks, marks and findings

  1. Remedia's fact-checks, claim reviews, alternative titles and editorial marks are our editorial opinion, based on the evidence we cite and our published methodology.
  2. We may correct, update or withdraw them. Corrections are marked.
  3. If you believe a fact-check or mark about you or your content is wrong, write to kontakt@remedia.social with the evidence. We review evidence, not pressure: threats, mass messages or demands without evidence are not reviewed.
  4. Content written with AI assistance is labelled and reviewed by a person before publication.

10. Plans, trials and payment

  1. Remedia has a free plan and paid plans. What each plan includes and its limits are shown on remedia.social at the time you subscribe.
  2. Trials. We may offer a free trial, for example by invitation. When it ends, your account moves to the free plan unless you subscribe. Content you created stays available to you, but tools outside the free plan become read-only.
  3. Payment. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment provider. Prices include or show taxes as required by law.
  4. Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; your plan stays active until the end of the paid period.
  5. Right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the EU, you have 14 days to withdraw from a new subscription. By starting to use paid features in that period, you ask us to start the service immediately, and a withdrawal then refunds only the unused part.
  6. Price changes. We tell you about a price change at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal. You can cancel before it applies.
  7. Refunds after account closure are covered in section 5.

11. Our content and the extension

  1. Remedia's own content (fact-checks, articles, design, software, logo and name) belongs to us or our licensors.
  2. You may read, share links to, and quote short parts of our published content with attribution and a link. Republishing whole articles needs our written permission.
  3. The browser extension is provided to you for personal or professional use. Do not modify, resell or redistribute it, or use it to collect data for others.
  4. Parts of Remedia may be released as open source under their own licences; those licences apply to those parts.

12. Availability, changes and liability

  1. We work to keep Remedia available and accurate, but we provide it as it is. We do not guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or that data from public sources is complete or current.
  2. We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a paid feature that was a main part of your plan, you may cancel and get a refund of the unused period.
  3. Keep your own copies of anything important. You can export or copy your research while your account is active.
  4. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage, lost profit, or damage caused by how you use information from Remedia, including publishing it. Our total liability to a paying user is limited to the amount paid in the last 12 months.
  5. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, or rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

13. Ending your account

  1. You can delete your account at any time from your profile, or by writing to kontakt@remedia.social.
  2. Deleting your account deletes your private content (folders, passages, notes, boards, monitors, persons) and your settings. Content you published may be kept where it is part of a public record, such as a fact-check that quotes it, but we remove your name from it on request where the law allows.
  3. Folders you shared with others are deleted with your account unless you first transfer them to another member.
  4. Sections that by their nature should survive (for example 6.2, 11 and 12) continue to apply.

14. Law, disputes, contact and changes

  1. These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Croatia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
  2. Disputes are decided by the competent court in Pula, Croatia, unless the law gives a consumer the right to sue in their own country.
  3. EU consumers may also use the EU online dispute resolution options available to them.
  4. We may update these terms. For significant changes we notify signed-in users by e-mail or in the app at least 14 days in advance. If you keep using Remedia after the change applies, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can close your account.
  5. Questions about these terms: kontakt@remedia.social.
