Dario Zurovec iz stranke Fokus snimio je na <a href="https://archive.ph/VzRMS" rel="noopener" target="_blank">TikToku</a> poruku glasačima u kojoj netočno tvrdi da su Hrvati najdeblji narod. Na taj način prezentira ideju Fokusa o izgradnji sportskih objekata, kojih u Hrvatskoj, kako tvrdi, “fali preko tisuću”.
<blockquote>“Hrvati su nažalost najdeblji narod… Kao nacija jedna smo od najdebljih na Zemaljskoj kugli… Ako ćemo imati gdje baviti se sportom, onda će nam biti bolje, bit ćemo zdraviji, bit ćemo vitalniji i duže ćemo živjeti.”, navodi Zurovec.</blockquote>
Iako Hrvati jesu u gornjoj četvrtini svijeta po pretilosti i među prvima u Europi, Zurovčeva izjava je pretjerana.
Kada se promatra Europa, odnosno <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=File:Overweight_population_map_July_2021_V2.png" rel="noopener" target="_blank">najsvježiji podaci Eurostata</a>, Hrvatska je 2021. doista imala najveći udio osoba s prekomjernom težinom u Europi. Čak 65 posto osoba imalo je indeks tjelesne mase (BMI) veći od 25. I tu se iz godine u godinu “nadmećemo” s Rumunjskom i Mađarskom, a europski je prosjek 53 posto.
Hrvati ipak nisu najdeblji na svijetu.
Hrvatska se po kriteriju pretilosti, odnosno BMI-ja većeg od 30, nalazi na 56. mjestu globalne liste koju je tvrtka <a href="https://archive.ph/3p4wo">Wisevoter</a> sastavila temeljem podataka <a href="https://archive.ph/FR38q" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije</a> za 2022. godinu. Oko 24 posto osoba u Hrvatskoj je pretilo, pri čemu su muškarci rangirani nešto više pa su 41. u svijetu. Hrvatice su nešto mršavije pa su 83., a djeca su na 63. mjestu s više od 27 posto pretilih.
<a href="https://data.worldobesity.org/maps/?area=maps" rel="noopener" target="_blank">WorldObesetiy.org</a> temeljem nešto starijih podataka rangira Hrvatsku na 25. mjesto, koristeći nešto starije podatke, dok je Rumunjska na 16. mjestu.
Drugim riječima, Hrvatska nedvojbeno ima javnozdravstveni problem, no ne dolazi ni blizu pacifičkim nacijama po stopama pretilosti, kao ni još desecima nacija.
Pacifičke otočne države Nauru, Cookovi otoci i Palau imaju najveću stopu pretilosti. Više od 30 % njihovog stanovništva klasificirano je kao pretilo. Zemlje Bliskog istoka poput Kuvajta, Jordana i Saudijske Arabije također imaju visoke stope pretilosti, s više od 25 % njihovog stanovništva koje je pretilo, a vrlo visoko kotiraju i Sjedinjene Američke Države.

“Visoke stope pretilosti u tim zemljama mogu se pripisati kombinaciji čimbenika, uključujući promjene u prehrani i načinu života, kao i socioekonomskim i kulturnim čimbenicima. Dostupnost jeftine, prerađene hrane i usvajanje sjedilačkog načina života pridonijeli su porastu stope pretilosti na globalnoj razini. Osim toga, kulturna uvjerenja i običaji vezani uz hranu i tjelesnu aktivnost također mogu igrati ulogu u doprinosu stopama pretilosti u nekim zemljama”, navodi Wisevoter.
Hrvatska svakako ima problem s prekomjernom težinom i pretilosti, a dobrobiti bavljenja fizičkom aktivnošću su neporecivi. Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija <a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/physical-activity" rel="noopener" target="_blank">preporučuje</a> za odrasle osobe između 150 i 300 minuta umjerene tjelesne aktivnosti tjedno, a za adolescente i mlade osobe čak i više. Ukoliko je aktivnost intenzivnija, može trajati i kraće, no svakako se ne preporučuje manje od toga.
