<p>Farmaceutska tvrtka Takeda od Zaklade Gates zaista je dva puta primala sredstva, ali niti jednom za cjepiva protiv denga groznice. U <a href="https://www.gatesfoundation.org/about/committed-grants?q=takeda#committed_grants" rel="noopener" target="_blank">pretrazi na stranicama Zaklade</a> vidljivo je da su Takedi sredstva dodijeljena u svibnju i studenom 2016. i to u oba slučaja za cjepivo za poliomijelitis odnosno dječju paralizu, ali ne i za dengu. Zaklada je <a href="https://www.gatesfoundation.org/ideas/media-center/press-releases/2003/09/dengue-vaccine-research" rel="noopener" target="_blank">financirala razvoj cjepiva protiv denga groznice</a>, ali tad je 55 milijuna dolara dodijeljeno Međunarodnom institutu za cjepiva (eng. International Vaccine Institute), a ne japanskoj farmaceutskoj tvrtki kao što to netočno navodi autor teksta.</p>
<p>Također, točno je i da Oxitec, biotehnološka kompanija koja je primala sredstva i od Zaklade Gates, razvija i pušta u prirodu genetski modificirane komarce Aedes aegypti za borbu protiv denge i nekoliko drugih bolesti u raznim dijelovima svijeta. Međutim, glasnogovornik Zaklade Gates za <a href="https://factcheck.afp.com/doc.afp.com.34KW7LP" rel="noopener" target="_blank">AFP</a> je potvrdio da zaklada ne financira nikakve poslove Oxiteca vezano uz puštenja genetski modificiranih komaraca u Brazilu.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gatesfoundation.org/about/committed-grants?q=oxitec#committed_grants" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Na internetskim stranicama Zaklade Gates</a> navedena je lista dodijeljenih sredstava tvrtki Oxitec, ali niti jedna ne spominje financiranje zahvata vezanih uz denga groznicu. “Potpore se odnose na malariju i ostajemo posvećeni usmjeravanju resursa i stručnosti prema cilju da zauvijek okončamo tu bolest”, dodao je glasnogovornik Zaklade.</p>

<p>Ko upozorava i na još jednu nelogičnost u tvrdnji o genetički modiciranim komarcima. “Komarci koje koristi Oxitec su genetski modificirani, ali članak spominje komarce zaražene Wolbachijom koji nisu genetski modificirani. Članak sadrži zbunjujuće činjenice”, ističe znanstvenik.</p>
